Lab Tours
Western University has many facilities for physics, astrophysics, and interdisciplinary research. Browse the videos and links below for an introduction to some of our labs and the work they do.
Surface Science Western
SSW is a consulting and research laboratory specializing in the analysis and characterization of surfaces and materials.
Robarts Research Institute
Robarts is a medical research facility in London, Ontario. Over 600 students and researchers investigate some of the most debilitating diseases of our time, from heart disease and stroke to diabetes, Alzheimer’s and many forms of cancer.

Interface Science Western
ISW is the home of the Tandetron Accelerator Facility, a part of the Canadian Charged Particle Accelerator Consortium (CCPAC). This is a National Facility supported in part by an NSERC Major Research Support grant.
ISW allows users to undertake a broad range of materials research projects using ion beam analysis and ion implantation. Ion implantation is the process by which impurities are introduced into semiconductors to create microelectronic devices, and so is one of the key techniques that makes fast computers and smartphones possible. ISW has extensive materials characterization and processing capabilities available to users.
